      Roger Elliot Bass

Roger Elliot Bass CHARLESTON - Roger Elliot Bass went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at his home in Charleston, SC. Born in Harvey, IL on May 26, 1973, he was the youngest child of Ralph Edward Bass, Jr. and Carol Ferguson Bass of Fountain Inn, SC. Roger is survived by his parents Ralph and Carol Bass; two brothers, Ralph E. Bass III and his wife Cindy and Robert Eric Bass and his wife Allison; two sisters, Carla J. Loper and her husband Bennie and Cheri J. Burress and her husband David; many nieces and nephews, and more friends than one can count. He dearly loved his dog Max, a yellow Labrador Retriever. His quick wit, heart-warming laughter and mischievous smile lit up the room. While growing up in Greenville, SC, Roger attended Bob Jones Academy. He was a member of Horizon Church. After moving to Charleston, SC, he was employed at ITS as a Partner and Senior Network Engineer. He moved his church affiliation to Santee Circle Community Church in Moncks Corner, SC, where he often assisted in the music ministry. Roger loved the Church of Jesus Christ and the souls of men. He was deeply grateful for the ministry of Changed Lives in Moncks Corner, SC - a Christian rehabilitation center, whose theme verse is 2 Corinthians 5:17: "Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away, behold, all things are new." He volunteered regularly, giving many hours to help troubled men come to know the freedom that Jesus brings. Roger laid up much treasure in heaven. "Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing." (2 Timothy 4:8, ESV) The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 9, 2015, from 12:00 to 1:45PM at Horizon Church, 1070 E. Butler Road, Mauldin, SC. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Jim Stephenson officiating. The interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. "For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling," (2 Corinthians 5:2, ESV) Roger sincerely wanted his life to count for eternity, and in recent years had ordered his life to reflect that priority. He brought great joy to his parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends whenever he made his frequent trips back to the Upstate. Roger will be missed more than mere words can impart, but we sorrow not as those who have no hope. "For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory." "O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?"" (1 Corinthians 15:52-55, ESV) To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8 Memorials may be made to Changed Lives Ministry, 470 Reid Hill Road, Moncks Corner, SC 29461. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.thomasmcafee.com. Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast Chapel.
