Melba Helen Cato
Melba Helen Cato, age 87, of Trinity, died Tuesday, January 30, 2023, at her residence. Her family will host a memorial service at a later date. Parkway Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Mrs. Cato was born October 22, 1935, in Tennessee to Nathan Bass and Ona Mai Glover Bass. Helen was preceded in death by two sons, Russell Scott Cato and Richard Drew Cato; her parents; three brothers, Julian Bass (Martha Ann), Dwight Bass (Sandy), and Thomas Bass; three sisters, Elease Bass (Biley), Virginia Hill (George), and Jeanine Merrell (Joe). She worked as a Registered Nurse for 45 years, and was a loving mom and memama.
She is survived by one son, Jeffery N. Cato; one daughter, Pamela K. Pullen; nine grandchildren, Josh Denmark (Jennifer), Adam Denmark (Stephanie), Matt Denmark (Amy), Jennifer Newby (Bill), Dusty Cato (LaRhonda), Corey Cato, Whitney Scruggs, Jason Cato, and Kevin Cato (Ashley); and 13 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of North Alabama or Project Sweet Peas (project sweetpeas.com)

Russell Scott Cato
Funeral for Scott Cato, 44, of Decatur will be Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at 3 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Grant officiating.
Burial will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Cato died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at his residence. He was born May 27, 1960, in Nashville to Gene Cato and Helen Bass Cato. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father; and his brother, Drew Cato.
Survivors include one son, Kevin Cato of Decatur; his mother, Helen Walter of Decatur; one brother, Jeff Cato of Decatur; one sister, Pam Thomas of Trinity; and his grandmother, Pauline Vaughn of Clarksville, Tenn.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
