Grady Henry Bass
Funeral services for Grady Henry Bass, prominent Real Estate Broker and former Giles County School Superintendent, were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Bennett-May Funeral Home with Rev. Quentin Rose and Rev. Clarence Stewart officiating. Burial was in Giles Memory Gardens.
Mr. Bass died Jan. 17 in a Huntsville Hospital after suffering a stroke on December 26. A native of Giles County, he was born Sept. 2, 1906 the son of the late William Henry and Minnie McCree Bass.
He taught school for 32 years before serving as school superintendent from1956-1959. Among the schools in which he taught were Liberty Hill, Shores and Minor Hill. He also taught at Collinwood School for 3 years.
In 1960, he entered the Real Estate business in Huntsville, Ala., and opened the Pulaski Real Estate Officce three years ago. He was also active in farming and livestock. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Omie Malone Bass; a son, Joe H. Bass of Pulaski; two daughters, Mrs. William Gooch of Pulaski and Mrs. John Tate of Huntsville, Ala.; two brothers, Arris and Elvy Bass, both of Minor Hill; four sisters, Mrs. Maggie Newton, Mrs. Bryson Paysinger, and Mrs. Brown Parsons, all of Pulaski, Mrs. Ora Bridges of Columbia; and six grandchildren.
