Handy M. Bass
Dunn, September 4 - Handy Minson Bass, 63, of Erwin, died early this morning at the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Erwin. The Reverends Forest Maxwell, George Morris and Harvey Turlington will officiate. Burial will be in Baptist Chapel Church Cemetery in Sampson County. Bass, a native of Sampson County, had been employed by the Erwin Mills for many years. He was a member of the 25-year club. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Erwin, a member of Erwin Chapter, Patriotic Order, Sons of America, and was a veteran of World War I. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Leona Bass of the home; two sons, Hughy C. Bass of Route 1, Dunn; Hubert W. Bass of Brunswick, Georgia; four daughters, Mrs. Harrison Jones of Kipling, Mrs. Merlean Delrosso of Fayettesville, Mrs. Charles McCrory of Millery, Alabama, and Mrs. Bennie Mangie of Venice, Illnois; two brothers, Wiley P. Bass, Route 4, Dunn, and William E. Bass of Route 1, Godwin; one sister, Mrs. Lillie Lockany of Fayetteville; and 20 grandchildren.
