Billy J. Bass
Billy J. Bass went to Heaven to be with the Lord on Sept. 3, 2008.
Retired Chief Master Sgt. Bass spent 27 years in the Air Force and was the loving husband of Dolores M. Bass for 57 years. Billy resided with his wife at Theresa Village, the Air Force Retirement Association in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Michael Bass; father, Joseph C. Bass; mother, Mary White Bass; and brother, Wayne Allen Bass.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dolores; his children, Gregory (Teresa) Bass of Jay, Fla., Karen (Brian) Gauntt of Pensacola, Fla., and Joseph (Ruth) Bass of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Jeremy, Candice, Shane, Kaitlyn, Tanya, J.J., Chelsea, Shawn and Nichole; five great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Mary Francis Blow, Betty (Neil) Sherrod, Winnette (Greg) Stinson of Thomasville, Ga., and Linda Bass of Atlanta.
He and his wife spent seven years traveling the south in their RV and worked for the Corps of Engineers out of Atlanta for six years before relocating to Theresa Village. He also worked in Saudi Arabia for three years for Northrup; and during his Air Force service was stationed in Guam, Bermuda and the Philippines. Bill also served his country in Vietnam and Saudi Arabia. Billy retired from the Air Force from Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, Ga. They enjoyed life in many places around the world.
Inurnment will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 11 a.m. with Chaplain Sally Michaud officiating and full military honors.

Billy Joe Bass died September 3, 2008 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. A retired Chief Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force, Bass spent 27 years in the Air Force and was married to Dolores Montgomery Bass for 57 years. He and his wife resided at Theresa Village in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Michael Bass; father, Joseph C. Bass; mother, Mary W. White Bass; and brothers, Allen Wayne Bass & Joseph C. Bass, II. He is survived by his wife Dolores; his children, Gregory L., Karen and Joseph; grandchildren, Jeremy, Candace, Shane, Kaitlyn, Tanya, J.J., Chelsea, Sean and Nichole; five great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Mary Blow, Betty Sherrod, Winnette Stinson and Linda Bass.He and his wife spent several years traveling the south in their RV and worked for the Corps of Engineers out of Atlanta for six years.
