Bass-Sullavan
Announcement is made of the marriage of Miss Gertrude Sullavan, daughter of Mrs. Anna Ault, and the late E.C. Sullavan, of Knoxville, Tenn., to Albert Bass, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Bass, of Deep Creek, Norfolk County, which took place Saturday, December 19.
The ceremony, witnessed only by a small group of relatives and friends, was performed by the bride?s pastor, the Rev. Joseph Butts, of Knoxville.
The bride, who was unattended, was attired in a brown suit with matching accessories and her flowers were a corsage of gardenias.
Mr. and Mrs. Bass are making their home for the present with the bridegroom?s parents.

Gertrude B. Smith
PORTSMOUTH - Gertrude Hazel Bass Smith, 85, went to be with the Lord Nov. 29, 2006. She was a native of Knotts County, Kentucky, and a member of Portsmouth Assembly of God.
Mrs. Smith was predeceased by her first husband, Albert Bass and second husband, James Smith. She is survived by two daughters, Geneva A. Montgomery of Portsmouth and Elizabeth Ann Bass of Newport News; five sons, Albert O. Bass and Samuel M. Bass of Suffolk, Charles L. Bass and Stephen D. Bass, both of Portsmouth and Earl L. Bass of North Carolina; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, by the Rev. Homer Peterson with interment in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Condolences may be made at www.lovingfuneralhome.com.
