William Roger "Bill" Bass
Leesburg, Georgia - William Roger "Bill" Bass, 69, of Leesburg, Georgia, died Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The graveside funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday, January 9, at Suncrest Memorial Gardens with military honors. The Reverend Damon Fountain and the Reverend Wayne McDonald will officiate.
A native of Colquitt County, he had resided in Leesburg for the past 12 years, moving from Albany, Georgia. He had served his country in both the United States Army and the Georgia National Guard; he was retired from the Albany City Police Department and was formerly employed with the Lee County Sheriff's Department and the Terrell County Sheriff's Department. He sang with numerous quartets through the years, the last being The Hymn Masters Quartet, and he was a member of Faith Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Broadway Bass; two sons, Steven Craig Bass and wife Katherine and James Roger Bass and wife Angelia; a sister, Pat Sellers and husband Wilsom; and three grandchildren, Jessica Bass, James Tyler Bass and Marissa Bass.
Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
