Mr. John Almon Bass
Mr. John Almon Bass, Sr., 84, of 2909 Fawn Avenue, died Friday from injuries received in a motor vehicle accident. Mr. Bass was born January 14, 1912 in Clinton, the son of the late John B. Bass and Nancy B. Bass. He was a retired employee of the American Tobacco Company. Mr. Bass was a Primitive Baptist. Surviving are his wife, Nannie Ruth Pope Bass; four sons, John Almon Bass, Jr., James Kenneth Bass, Robert Wayne Bass and Randolph Forsyth Bass, all of Durham; two daughters, Mrs. Sandra Ann Justice and Mrs. Penny Ennis, both of Durham; five sisters, Mrs. Ellen Carter, Mrs. Enda Adair, Mrs. Bonnie Robertson and Mrs. Annostine Hall, all of Fayetteville, and Mrs. Eula Bass of Durham; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in Clements Funeral Chapel by Reverend Morton Kurtz. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Section 12. Pallbearers will be Marty Bass, Michael Bass, Calvin Bass, Jamey Bass, Matthew Ennis, Carl Roberts, Chris Bass, J. R. Daughtry and Raeford Daughtry. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7 to 9 at Clements Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
