  Notes	The Texas Spur December 12, 1940 T.G. Bass, 85, passed away December 5, at home of son T.G. Bass, 85, died Thursday, December 5 at the home of his son Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Bass, of Dry Lake, where he made his home. Although nearing his 86th birthday, Mr. Bass was in reasonably good health until early in the fall his health began to fail and for the past two months he has been confined to his room. Funeral services were held from the Dry Lake Baptist Church, Friday at 2 p.m., Reverend W.F. Markham, of Highway and Reverend Clarence Coffman of Plainview, pastor of the Dry Lake Church, officiating. Burial was in the Spur Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Jeff Smith, W.F. Foreman, I.J. McMahan, C.N. Kidd, W.A. Harris and Ola Miller. Flower bearers were granddaughters of the deceased: Mrs. Leta Mac Bryant, Mrs. Ozella Hill and Mrs. Orie Johnson. All the children were present for the last rites except Mrs. Achison who was unable to attend. T.G. Bass was born Feb. 17, 1855 in the state of Georgia where he grew to manhood, married and established a home. From Georgia Mr. Bass with his family came to Texas, first settling in Runnels County where they lived several years before coming to Spur in 1916. Surviving are six children; 4 sons, L.G. and Arthur of Spur; J.C. and J.A. of Brownfield; two daughters, Mrs. R.C. Warren of Hagerman, New Mexico and Mrs. Julia Achimon of Alabama. Twenty-four grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren also survive.
