She was born January 21, 1924 in Sampson County and lived there all her life until her declining health required her to move to live with her daughter and son-in-law and later to The Oaks at Mayview in Raleigh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland Bass; her parents, Aubrey and Lou Venia Strickland; and two brothers, Lewis and Alton Strickland.
A kind and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt is how she will always be remembered. She also leaves many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Mrs. Bass retired from Belk where she was employed for over forty years. She was active in her community well into her eighties and was a member of Lee’s Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church. In October 1993 she was honored for her church work by the Cape Fear Woman’s Auxiliary Council for her faithful and loyal service.
