Mrs. Mattie Bass Laid To Rest At Mt. Hebron
Elmor County relatives and friends learned with sorrow of the passing of Mrs. Mattie Bass, whose death occurred at her home in Birmingham on last Saturday. The remains were brought to Speigner on Monday morning and laid to reset beside the grave of her son in Mr. Hebron Cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. T.W. Price, pastor of Chanie Creek Primitive Baptist Church, of which the deceased had been a member since early in life. The McMorris Undertaking Co. of Wetumpka was in charge.
Mrs. Bass was a life long resident of Elmore County until she moved to Birmingham. She had lived a life of usefulness and reached the age of sixty-six years. For a long time she had been ill and was ready to go in search of that home prepared for the faithful, tho it was hard to leave the loved ones here. She was a Christian woman, a true wife and tender, loving mother.
Surviving are the husband, Mr. J. Morgan Bass, two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Woodall and Mrs. Ada Lewis, one son, Mr. J.A. Bass, all of Birmingham; three brothers, Messrs. G.L. Bass, Joe Bass and John Bass of near Wetumpka and many other relatives and a host of friends in Elmore County.
