Edith Adcock Bass
Humboldt - Edith Adcock Bass, 100, passed away at Humboldt General Hospital, Humboldt, Tennessee, September 4, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Joe Billy Bass, Sr.; and grandson, Mr. Joe Bret Bass. Mrs. Bass, daughter of the late Leila Thompson Adcock and Clarence Hallum Adcock, was born in Dickson, Tennessee on February 16, 1907. Mrs. Bass worked in retail sales for 42 years. She was an active member of the Eastern Star, participated in the West Tennessee Gavel Club and held offices in the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She was the oldest member of Central Avenue Christian Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Bass Stewart; and a son, Mr. Joe Billy Bass, Jr. and his wife, Evelyn Bass, all of Humboldt. Mrs. Bass has four living grandchildren. They include Edith Stewart McLeary and husband, Harold of Germantown, Tennessee, Dianne Bass Spain of Humboldt, Daniel Alan Bass and wife, Sherry of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Paul David Bass and wife, Nancy of Seymour, Tennessee. Mrs. Bass has six great-grandchildren. Visitation is set for Thursday, September 6 from 5-7 p.m. at Hunt-Shelton Funeral Home in Humboldt with services in their chapel on Friday, September 7 at 10 a.m. Memorials may be made to Central Avenue Christian Church in Humboldt, Tennessee.
