Ellen Keller
Ellen Louise Keller, "Louise," age 85, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 6, 2025. Born in Eureka, NC, Louise was the daughter of the late Jessie (Semerteen) and Irwin Bass Sr. She graduated from Brown Vocational High School and went on to work a variety of jobs, including seamstress of custom drapery and upholstery for JC Penney's. She retired as a Pharmaceutical Assistant at Happy Harry's. While she had many roles: loving wife, devoted mother, adoring oldest sister, compassionate friend, her most cherished "job" was being a grandmother to her fifteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was skilled in crochet and made many afghans and blankets for family and friends. Louise was a longtime member of Marshallton United Methodist Church.
Louise is survived by her husband of 62 years, Francis Anthony Keller; her daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Shawn Loftus; her grandchildren, Matthew Loftus (Maggie), Joel Loftus (Hannah), Emma Clark, Noah Loftus (Lizzi), Hannah Loftus (Spencer), Jessie Campbell (Kent), Keller Loftus (Johannes), Grace Loftus, Phillip Loftus, Faith Loftus, Peter Loftus, Lydia Loftus, Asher Loftus, Hope Loftus and Julia Loftus; her great grandchildren, Naomi, Henry, Leo, and Oscar Loftus; Callie, Hazel, and Brynn Clark; Kyle, Ariel, and Capri Campbell; her siblings, Irwin Bass, Jr. (Mary Lou), and Dorothy "Jean" Maxwell (Lee), as well as many caring nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Louise was predeceased by her sister, Carol Berry.
A visitation will be held on February 18, 2025 from 9 A.M. to 10 A.M. at Marshallton United Methodist Church, 1105 Stanton Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808, with funeral services to begin at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Wilmington, DE, with a light luncheon to follow interment at Marshallton United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Louise's name to Marshallton United Methodist Church at the above address.
