Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Cross Roads Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Adela Woodburn Bass; two daughters, Mrs. Ann Bass Burke of South Boston and Miss Jewel Bass of the home; four sons, William M. Bass Jr. of Louisville, Kentucky, Jacob W. Bass of Niceville, Florida, George E. Bass and Walter H. Bass, both of the home; five sisters, Miss Georgia Bass of Alton, Mrs. Alma Pulliam of Roxborn, North Carolina, Mrs. Rebecca Vernon of Milton, North Carolina, Mrs. Ruth Woody of Cluster Springs and Mrs. Frances Hawkins of Richmond; four brothers, John Bass of Wheeling, West Virginia, Walter H. Bass II of Paces, Bryan Bass of Danville and Emmitt Bass of Richmond; and four grandchildren.
