Shirley Christine Bass
Shirley Christine Bass, 77, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2015. She had been a Newport News resident for 50 years.
Shirley retired in 2000 as a Tool Distributor at Newport News Shipbuilding with 20 years of service. She was a devout Christian and longtime member of Warwick Assembly of God. After retirement, she loved helping as many people as possible.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Lillie Mae Everett; and her son, Troy Keith Bass. Shirley is survived by her son, Mike Ward of Newport News; her brothers, Samuel D. Everett, Jr. of FL, and Alton Ray Everett of NC; her sisters, Faye Curlee and Hilda Everett, both of TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Weymouth Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2016 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that contributions be given to the family to assist in funeral expenses. Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home.
