Claude Dixon Bass, 86, died Sunday at Wilson Memorial Hospital. He was born in Johnston County to the late Stephen Austin and Bettie Dixon Bass. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Edwards Bass. Mr. Bass was an avid wood worker, member of the Kenly Masonic Lodge and Piney Grove F.W.B. Church where he was deacon, trustee and Sunday school superintendent. He was a World War II veteran receiving the Bronze Star in the combat infantry and a charter member of the American Legion.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, November 29, 2007, at 2 p.m. at the Minshew-Coley Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Lyn Renfrow and the Reverend Wayne Hargrove will be officiating the services. Burial will follow at Dixon Family Cemetery.
He is survived by his daughters, Beth Speight and husband, Andy, of Lucama, Janet Sherrod and husband, Ted, of Kenly; grandchildren, Josh and Allison Sherrod; step-grandchildren, Josh and Kandre Speight; several nieces and nephews; and special care giver, Beulah Carter and his attending angels.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening at Minshew-Coley Funeral Home in Kenly from 7 to 9 p.m.
