Raymond Andrew ?Buddy? Bass Jr.
BELMONT ? Raymond Andrew "Buddy" Bass, Jr., 83, of Belmont, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Carillion Assisted Living Center.
He was born June 15, 1931, in Halifax County, a son of the late Raymond Andrew Bass and Bessie Marshall Bass. Buddy was a recipient of The Order of The long Leaf Pine; was a member of the North Carolina Real Estate Commission and chairman for two terms; a graduate of East Carolina University, where he played football. He owned Bass Construction and Realty of Fayetteville, and was a pilot and a member of Cape Fear Flying Association. He currently attended New Hope Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters June Jackson, Mary Young Robinson and Beb Cash.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Joan Cable Bass; son, Greg Bass and wife, Debbie, of Fayetteville; daughters, Lisa Morris and husband, John, of Belmont, Susan Bass and fiance, Brad Hickman, of Greenville; sisters, Tommie Cubine of Virginia Beach, Va., and Carolyn Aumente of Maryland; grandchildren, Raymond Bass, Jason Moore, Erin Morris, Tyler Morris White, Emily Bass and Hannah Bass; great-grandchildren, Townes Raymond White, Garret Moore, Aubryn Bass and Stella Bass.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today, Sunday, June 7 at New Hope Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. John Pruitt officiating. The family will greet friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
The family will also celebrate Buddy's life at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 9 at St. Marks Episcopal Church in Halifax. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
