Howard Marshall Bass Jr.
Mr. Howard Marshall Bass Jr., 67, of Pineville died July 9, 1994, at home. Funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday at Independent Bible Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at McEwen Funeral Home, Pineville chapel.
Mr. Bass, a Mecklenburg County native, retired in 1992 as a carpenter with Cone Mills in Pineville after more than 20 years. He was a former carpenter with John Crosland Homebuilders. He attended old Pineville School and was a World War II Army veteran. At his church, he played the guitar, violin and banjo. He was a member of the Navajo Tribe of the Improved Order of Redman.
Survivors are his wife, Betty; brothers, Roy Bass of Concord, Richard Bass, Oscar Bass, both of Pineville, Alfred Bass; sisters, Mrs. Josephine Walters of Kissimmee, Fla., Mrs. Essie Coley of Pineville; stepsons, Jimmy Rogers, Ronnie Rogers, both of Pineville, Tommy Rogers; stepdaughter, Mrs. Ann Stovall of Kokomo, Miss.; four grandchildren.
