Charles E. Bassett Jr.
Charles E. Bassett Jr., 64, of Wakefield Street, a stock clerk for the former Interlex Co. of Providence for 20 years before retiring, died yesterday at Kent County Memorial Hospital in Warwick. He was the husband of Hilda (Henry) Bassett.
Born in Providence, he was a son of Charles E. Bassett of Electric, Texas, and the late Doris E. (Kitchen) Bassett. He moved to West Warwick 35 years ago.
Mr. Bassett was an Army veteran of World War II and a Coast Guard veteran. He attended Bryant College.
He had recently worked as a security guard for Wells Fargo for eight years, retiring in 1990.
Besides his wife and father he leaves a daughter, Donna M. Bassett of West Warwick, and a sister, Virginia Hines of Florida.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 9 a.m. at the Robert A. Iannotti & Sons Funeral Home, 415 Washington St., Coventry. Burial with military honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
