Phyllis B. Hansen (1923-2017)
VERNON - Phyllis B. Hansen, 93, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017. Phyllis was born on Oct. 23, 1923, in Lakeville, Conn., to William and Bessie (Goldsworthy) Bassett.
Phyllis attended St. Christopher School in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., with her sisters and brother. At age 13, she lived in Mt. Vernon, N.Y., with the Crawford family. She graduated from A.B. Davis High School in 1941. She entered the dental chemists profession under the guidance of Dr. E. Granger, of Mt. Vernon, N.Y. She was a resident of Bronxville, N.Y., until marrying Harold in 1956. They were residents of River Vale for 40 years and enjoyed many trips together to Rio, Mavi, Jamaica, Bermuda, and L.B.I. summers. In retirement, they moved to Scenic Lake, Vernon Township, in 1999.
Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Harold N. Hansen, and a sister, Barbara Bamber, in 1973. Phyllis is survived by her two sons, Christopher D. Hansen, of Port Jervis, N.Y., and Peter N. Hansen, of Middletown, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Tyler and Jenna Hansen; two sisters, Dorothy Miller-Harwich, of Cape Cod, Mass., and Jane Schmidt, of Ocala, Fla.; a brother, John Paul Bassett, of Richmond, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will be received at the Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94, Vernon (GPS use 1 Vanderhoof Court), on Saturday, Feb. 4, from 2-3:30 p.m., with memorial services at 3:30 p.m.
