Ingrid Bassett
Fortuna resident Ingrid Elizabeth Bassett, 86, passed away April 7, 1998, at her home.
Ingrid was born January 23, 1912, in Greenwood (Elk), Mendocino County, and moved with her family to Freshwater when she was 5 years old. She attended Garfield School and Eureka High School. Her favorite pastimes were playing cards with her friends, fishing and watching baseball.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia McCune; five grandchildren, Linda Lively of Monroe, La., Catherine Rhodus of Walker, La., Michael Lively of North Kingston, R.I., and Teri McCune-Oostra and Beverly Van Dyke of Smith River; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Helme Liska of Eureka and Elsie Ingraham of Elk River; brothers, Oscar Lolax of Palo Cedro and Ernest Lolax of Fortuna; sister-in-law Cora Silva of San Jose; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, in 1984; daughter, Betty Costa, in 1995; sisters, Ellen Sobol, Ina Sepic and Eda Vinum; and brothers, Edwin Lolax and Ted Carlson.
Graveside services will be held April 16, 1998, at Ocean View Chapel.
It was Ingrid's wish that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Guide Dogs for the Blind, P.O. Box 151200, San Rafael, 94915-1200.
