Verna Bassett
Verna Bassett, 71, a longtime Wenatchee resident, died at Central Washington Hospital Monday afternoon following an extended illness.
She was born Verna Waddell on August 8, 1913, at Chelan. She lived at Chelan during her early years and moved to Brewster with her family at the age of 10. She graduated from Brewster High School in 1931. On November 29, 1933, she married Jack Bassett at Seattle. The Bassetts lived in the Seattle area until 1936 when they moved to Wenatchee. They had since made that their home.
Survivors include her husband, Jack, at home; two sons, Terry Bassett, Santa Monica, California, and Don Bassett, Lake Oswego, Oregon; one brother, Lester Waddell, Brewster; one sister, Dorothy Whitelock, Olympia; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers and sisters.
At her request there will be no services.
