D. Jeanne Bassett (Includes Picture)
D. Jeanne Bassett, 82, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014, at her residence.
She was born May 24, 1931, to Wilson Arthur Storer and Jeannette Agnus Eyke Storer in Terre Haute. She married John Ross Ratliff in 1954, and he passed away in 1964. She then married Paul E. Bassett on July 23, 1965, and he preceded her in death in 2002.
Survivors include five sons, Bill Bassett of Shelbyville, Steve Bassett of Shelbyville, Mike Bassett of Morristown, Billy Ratliff of Shelbyville and Mike Ratliff of Waynesbour, Georgia; daughter, Denise Rogian of New Palestine; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Ratliff; husband, Paul E. Bassett; and sister, Billie Branaman.
Mrs. Bassett had lived in the Shelbyville area since 1965, after living in Indianapolis.
She graduated from Wiley High School in Terre Haute, and attended the University of New Mexico and Brown's Business College.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Bassett was a member of the Bear Squares square dancing club.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gwen Pew officiating.
Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Liberty United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
