Survivors include his wife, Lucille Bass of Oakdale; eight sons, James Bass Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas, Embree Bass of Tennessee, Charles Leon Bass of California, Russell Bass of Irving, Texas, Sammy Bass of Tioga, James Huey Bass of Alexandria, Gerald Ray Bass of San Angelo, Texas, and Franklin Bass of Pine Prairie; eight daughters, Bethlien Lasyone of Simms, Rebecca McMahan of New Orleans ,Marie Vickers of Nederland, Texas, Delma Elaine Allen of Woodworth and Beulah Fay Cole, Frankie Johnson, Donna Kaye Bass and Gloria Jean Thibodeaux, all of Oakdale; one brother, Irving White of Arkansas; 43 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Ardoin, Oakdale, with the Revs. Jim Perkins and J.C. Sweeney officiating.
