15TH AAF In Italy ? Pfc. Thomas A. Bassett, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.H.P. Bassett, Rye, N.Y., clerk in a B-24 Liberator squadron, has been authorized to wear an Oak Leaf Cluster to the Distinguished Unit Badge as a member of heavy bombardment group, which has been twice cited by the War Department for ?outstanding performance of duty against the enemy.?
Pfc. Bassett also wears the African-European-Middle East Theatre ribbon with five stars. He is a graduate of Watertown High School, Watertown, Conn., where he was active in track, tennis and golf.
Before entering service, Pfc. Bassett was a student at Roosevelt Aviation School, Mineola, Long Island, N.Y. Prior to his arrival overseas in April of last years, he was stationed at Harvard Army Air Base, Harvard, Neb.

Mrs. Anthony Schulte of 495 West End Avenue announces the engagement of her
daughter, Miss Lucille Rose Schulte, to John Humphrey Phillips Bassett,
U.S.N.R.F., son of Mrs. William Douglas Fitch of New Haven, Conn. The wedding
is to take place on June 19 at the home of the bride.

The marriage of John Humphrey Phillips Bassett of the U.S.N. Reserve Force,
and a son of Mrs. William Douglas Fitch of New Haven, Conn., and Miss Lucille
R. Schulte, a daughter of Mrs. Anthony Schulte of this city, was celebrated
last evening at the home of the bride’s mother, 495 West End Avenue. The
ceremony was performed by the Rev. Frank Oliver Hall of the Universalist
Church of the Divine Paternity, before a temporary altar decorated with pink
and white peonies, in the presence of the families only. The bride, who
uncle, David A. Schulte, gave her in marriage, wore a white satin gown trimmed
with Carrickmacross lace and her tulle veil was held with orange blossoms. Her
only attendant was her sister, Miss Antoinette Schulte. Mr. Bassett’s best man
was John Sutphen, Jr.
