      Wayne Keith Jackson, 89, Kokomo, entered the gates of Heaven at 7:54 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at North Woods Village in Kokomo. He was born on Sept. 21, 1927, in Center, Indiana, to the late Cecil L. & Sabra B. (Shelby) Jackson. On March 29, 1959, he married Wanda L. York, at Parr Methodist Church, and she survives. Wayne was a 1945 graduate of Kokomo High School. He worked at the Farm Bureau Co-op as a tank wagon driver from 1947 until 1963. In 1963 he started work at Chrysler Transmission Plant in Kokomo, retiring in 1989 as an inspector. After retirement, he traveled on many fishing trips with his fishing buddies to the North and South and Southwest, where they had fun fishing, and tell tales of the "one that got away". Wayne really loved going to Canada with his family in tow every summer. He did this for about 60 years, going to the same lake in Canada, fishing, riding ATVs, and visiting with friends. He was a member of Parr United Methodist Church. Wayne was also a 50 year of Farm Bureau Co-op, Howard Lodge #93 F&AM, and the Ibn Saud Grotto, He was past Monarch of Ibn Saud Grotto in 1962, he went through all the chairs of the Grotto, and was secretary for many years. Wayne was past President of the Midwest Grotto Association in 1990. He was the past Grand Monarchs aide twice and was made Kentucky Col. by Grand Treasurer Del Garbrandt. Wayne was dual Grotto member of Sahara Grotto, Indianapolis, Gao Grotto, Danville, Illinois, and Honorary life member of Abbas Grotto, Peoria, Illinois. He devoted his time to the Grotto in which he loved very much and did all he could to help in the Midwest. Wayne traveled throughout the realm of the North American Grotto Association and had many friends throughout the states and in Canada. Wayne is survived by his wife, Wanda L. Jackson, Kokomo; Wayne raised five wonderful children, Vivian Anne Jackson Ramer, Kokomo, Christopher Allen Jackson, Kokomo, Anita Sue (Byron) Jackson Schaeffer, Burlington, Steven Wayne Jackson, Kokomo; grandchildren, Dustin Ramer, Joshua (Tracy) Ramer, Steve (Morgan) Jackson, Jr, Kylie Jackson, Allison (Chad) Ailor Exemeyer, all of Kokomo, and Andrew Schaeffer, and Shane Schaeffer, both of Burlington, Alex (Sarah) Ailor, Bunker Hill and Sara Jackson (Damon Thomas), of Seattle, Washington, along with several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, a host of dear friends, and Grotto family. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Michelle Lee Jackson, brothers, Billy Joe Jackson, and Robert Jackson. Funeral services for Wayne will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor B.J. Siefert officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home, with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Wayne's memory to the Ibn Saud Grotto.
