Williamstown
Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. James P. Bass at her home in Waco, Tex., Oct. 18, 1916. Mrs. Bass was formerly Miss Ruth Irwin and she was born in Ohio, November 23, 1862. She was for some time a teacher in Texas and was married to Mr. Bass in December, 1897. He was at that time the superintendent of the Elm Street Methodist Sunday school and his wife at once became a teacher in the primary department of that school, which place she held until compelled to give it up by ill health, some 18 months before her death. The pastor of the church speaks very feelingly of her work and services in the home and church and says that ?she was a veritable angel of mercy among the sick and poor of that section of Waco.? James P. Bass, the husband of the deceased, is the oldest son of the late James Martin Bass, who lived on Baptist street for the greater part of his life, though his later years were spent in Somerville, Mass.
