Beatrice C. ?Bea? Bassett

Beatrice C. "Bea" Bassett, 82, of Ocala, passed away peacefully in Ocala on Saturday, January 12, 2013. Bea was born Feb. 3, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York. She was married to Ed on August 15, 1948. They made homes for themselves and family in Brooklyn and East Patchogue, NY before retiring to Ocala, FL in 1995. Besides being a loving wife and mother, Bea was employed by the Suffolk County Board of Elections. She also cooked for the nuns at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. When Bea and Ed retired in Ocala, they became active members of the St. Jude Catholic Community, where along with Ed, she shared the joy of being an active Cursllista. She also was an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and an Altar Server and a member of the Ladies Guild. Bea and Ed also for years successfully managed the St. Jude Thrift Store and helped bring much aid to the needy in the Community. For relaxation she eagerly loved to play cards, mah-jong and she always enjoyed being with her family and friends. Bea desired to be remembered for her love of the Lord, her family and her friends. Her hope for this memorial is to be a time of joy celebrating her new life with the Lord and those who preceded her from this world. Besides her parents John W. and Catherine (Quigly) Readey, she was also preceded in death by her brothers John, Frank and sister Ann. Bea is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, ,Edward; children Tom (Ann) of CA, Bob (Marie) of NY and Mary Ellen Wagner (Brian) of NY; grandchildren Nikki, Richie, Steven, Colleen and Ali; great grandchildren Madison, Noah, Cole and Carter; siblings Marion, Jeannette, Kay and Helen and many nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 17th from 5:00PM to 7:00PM in the TimberRidge Chapel of Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 9695 SW 110th St. Ocala. The Mass will be held Friday, Jan 18th at St. Jude Catholic Community, Ocala at 10:00AM. Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. Jude Building Fund.
