PETERSBURG, March 7 ? Lieutenant Colonel George Q. Bass, 42, assistant chief of staff of G-2, Fort Lee, died suddenly Wednesday in his home, apparently as the result of a heart attack. A reserve officer in the Corps of Engineers for 16 years, Colonel Bass was called into the Regular Army in the Spring of 1947. He took up duties at Fort Lee in August, 1949, attending Quartermaster School and upon completion of that course was named to his present post. Surviving Colonel Bass, whose home address was listed as Baltimore, is his wife, Mrs. Virginia Bass, and two sons, Robert, 12 and George, Jr., 6. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
