Edward William Bass
Edward William Bass, 49, 1058 Villa court, Benton Heights, died at 8 a.m. this morning at the Margaret Lyle hospital. He had been seriously ill for the past two years and had been hospitalized for four days.
He was born July 10, 1909 in Lawrence, the son of Mrs. Nathan Bass and the late Nathan Bass of that community. He resided there in his young life and graduated from the Lawrence high school in the class of 1928.
He married the former Miss Ruth Marie Oliver of the South Haven are, in Bristol, Ind., Oct. 28, 1935. They resided in White Pigeon for a year, before coming to Benton Harbor in 1936. For the first 12 years of his residence here, Mr. Bass was employed at the Buick Garage in Benton Harbor. He then established and operated Eddie?s Garage in Benton Heights which he operated until illness caused his retirement.
Besides his wife, Mr. Bass is survived by his mother, Mrs. Nathan Bass of Kalamazoo; a son, Jack, at home; a brother, Miles of Kalamazoo; and three sisters, Mrs. Robert VanderBrook of Kalamazoo, Mrs. George Conway of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Charles Baker of Parchment, Mich.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Florin funeral home, with burial in the Lawrence cemetery.
