Mr. Raymond D. or Spare or Spareparts Eldridge Sr., 76
NORTH HARWICH - --Raymond D. "Spare" or "Spareparts" Eldridge Sr., 76, of North Harwich and Grove City, Fla., died unexpectedly on June 8.
He was the husband of the late June (Bassett) Eldridge.
Mr. Eldridge was a native of Cape Cod and a lifelong resident who spent his winters in Grove City, Fla. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He served overseas from June 1946 to June 1947.
He was self-employed, working as a mason, builder and carpenter. He worked on homes in Dennis, Harwich and Yarmouth. He also fished, lobstered and scalloped.
He enjoyed puzzles and spending time with family and friends. He gardened, and many people received the bounty of his efforts.
He was a member of the Mount Horeb Lodge A.F. & A.M. in South Dennis, the Mason Chapter #134 and the Scottish Rite Bodies. He was also a member of the Alleppo Shriners and a member of the American Legion in Boca Raton, Fla.
He is survived by two daughters, Marcia Eldridge of North Harwich and Paula White of East Dennis; two sons, Raymond Eldridge Jr. of Arcadia, Fla. and Arthur Eldridge of Sarasota, Fla.; a brother, Kenneth Eldridge of Summersfield, Fla.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nephews.
A funeral service was held at Doane, Beale and Ames Funeral Home, South Dennis. Burial was held in the Island Pond Cemetery.
