Verna S. Bassett
CAMBRIDGE ? Verna S. Bassett, 92, died June 25 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward Gibbons in Eagle Bridge, following a long illness.
Mrs. Bassett was born in Easton, daughter of Alonzo and Marion Jessup Skiff.
She was a member of the South Cambridge United Methodist Church and a charter member of Pleasant Valley Grange in South Cambridge. She was the widow of Nelson Bassett.
Survivors in addition to Mrs. Gibbons, are three other daughters, Mrs. Franklin Lee and Mrs. John McLaughlin of Valley Falls, and Mrs. James Austin of Cambridge; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Private funeral services were conducted Monday at the Charles A> Ackley Funeral Home on Monday. Interment was in Woodlands Cemetery, Cambridge.
The family has suggested that memorials may be made in the form of contributions to the South Cambridge Methodist Church.
