Nelson H. Bassett
SOUTH CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. – Nelson H. Basset, 73, died Sunday at his home
in South Cambridge. He had been in failing health for several year
He was born in the town of Easton on Jan. 10, 1890, a son of the late
George and Mabel (Burch) Bassett, but came to this community when a young boy.
Mr. Bassett was a retired farmer, a member of the South Cambrid
Methodist church and a charter member of Pleasant Valley Grang
He leaves his wife, the former Verna Skiff; four daughters, Mrs.
Franklin (Marian) Lee and Mrs. John (Arlene) McLoughlin Jr., both of Valley
Fallas; Mrs. James D. (Helen) Austin Jr. of South Cambridge and Mrs. Robert
(Audria) Gibbons of Eagle Bridge; two sisters, Mrs. E.R. Stiles of South
Cambridge and Mrs. William Irwin of East Greenwich; two uncles, Clarence
Bassett of Shaghticoke and Clifford Bassett of Easton; 12 grandchildren and 3
great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
