Virgil D. Bass
Virgil Duncan Bass, 75, died at 5:30 p.m. Monday at The Medical Center after a long illness.
Mr. Bass was a retired merchant and farmer who was born at Leslie, Ga., August 23, 1883. He was a son of the late Taylor and Elizabeth Parker Bass. He had lived in Columbus for eight years at 1026 Benning Drive. He was a member of South Columbus Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, the former Tempie Willis; three daughters, Mrs. W.R. McBride, Mrs. A.B. McBride, and Mrs. W. W. Murray, all of Columbus; two sons, Otis and Thomas W. Bass, both of Columbus; one brother, Z.A. Bass, Americus; one sister, Mrs. J.C. Page, Leslie,; 14 grandchildren.
Funeral will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Leslie Methodist Church. Burial will be in Leslie Cemetery.
Striffler-Hamby Mortuary is in charge.
