Taggart Sr., R.R.1 Waldron, will be honored Saturday at a surprise open house for friends and relatives, in celebration of their 40th wedding anniversary. Mr. Taggart and the former Betty L. Bassett were married Aug. 26 1947 at the Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. Clarence Hager. Mr. Taggart is employed at Knauf Fiber Glass. The Taggarts are the parents of Jim Taggart, Mrs. Larry (Betty) Shook, Mrs. Russell (Bonnie) Sipes, Mrs. Cecil (Jennie) Daugherty, Tim Taggart, Mike Taggart, Mrs. David (Sherrie) Thompson, Mrs. Tom (Tina) Fisher, and Kristi, Elizabeth and Andy Taggart. They also have 23 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren. OBITUARY Shelbyville News 14 Sep 1994 Betty L. Taggart, 65, 713 E. Middletown Road, Waldron, died at 9 a.m. Wednesday at her home. Born Aug. 25, 1929 in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Edward and Lettie Baker Bassett. On Aug. 26, 1947 she married James F. Taggart Sr., who survives. Mrs. Taggart was a homemaker. She had lived in Waldron for 22 years moving there from St. Paul. She was a member of the Waldron Baptist church where she belonged to the Baptist Women's Missionary Class. Other survivors are sons, Mike Taggart, Shelbyville, James F. Taggart Jr., Vevay, Andy and Tim Taggart, St. Paul; daughters Elizabeth Brown, Shelbyville, Betty Ann Shook, Milroy, Bonnie Sipes, Indianapolis, Sherr Prine, Anderson, Jennie Daugherty, North Vernon, Tina Foster, Oneida, Tenn., Kristi Ristuccia, Hawaii; Sisters, Marily Wilson, Lucy Saunders, and Ru Landwerlen, all of Shelbyville, Mary Henderson, Hope; a brother, Jack Bassett, Shelbyville; 29 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Taggart was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Glenn E. George Funeral Home, St. Paul, with the Rev. Ed Dorsey officiating. Burial will be in Bennett Cemetery, Shelbyville. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial may be sent to the Shelby County Cancer fund.
