- Henry N. Bassett, Executive in Government and Banki
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 27,
at the Presbyterian Church in Chatham Township for Henry N. Bassett, 89, of
Chatham Township, who died Sunday, Oct. 22, 1995, at Overlook Hospit
Summit.
Mr. Bassett was born in Manson, Iowa, and had lived in Chicago, Boston
and Washington, D.C., before moving to Chatham Township 37 years ag
He joined the Continental Insurance Co. in New York in 1958 and
retired as secretary in 1971. Previously, he had been the Associate Director
of Accounting for the Air Force headquarters in Washington, D.C.; the
Reconstruction Finance Corp. also in Washington, and the investment banking
firm of Halsey, Stuart & Co. in Chicago, Boston and Baltimore, M
Mr. Bassett was a 1927 graduate of Northwestern University in
Evanston, IL.
Mr. Bassett was the recipient of the Air Force Exceptional Civilian
Service Medal.
He was a life member of the Financial Executives Institute, a national
organization in New York.
Mr. Bassett was the treasurer of the Presbyterian Church in Chatham
Township for many years.
Surviving are his wife, Sarah; two sons, David of Forest Hill, MD.,
and Richard of Fairfax,VA.; a daughter, Sally Walker of Chatham; and six
grandchildren.

choice.
