Lucille Lillion (Bassett) McDonald
Lucille Lillion (Bassett) McDonald, 88, of Chippewa Falls, town of Tilden, died suddenly Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls.
She was born April 10, 1920, in Chippewa County, the daughter of Roy and Maude (Shipman) Bassett. Lucille attended the Anson country school and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School.
On September 3, 1942, Lucille married Art McDonald in Louisiana where Art was stationed in the U.S. Army. Art died in December 1944 in Germany while serving in the Battle of the Bulge. Lucille then married Bernard McDonald on June 21, 1958.
Lucille resided on the McDonald family farm in the town of Tilden until the time of her death.
She was a member of Notre Dame Church.
Lucille will always be remembered for her soft voice and the way she would wink when she smiled. She had a love of animals and enjoyed listening to and reading about politics. Lucille will be missed by her family and granddog, Kali whom she babysat every day.
She is survived by: one son Gary (Debbie); one daughter Mary K. both of Tilden; grandson, Joshua Fleming (fiance, Dawn Jacobson) of Cadott, Nathan Fleming of Bloomer and Christopher McDonald of Eau Claire; sisters-in-law, Carol Bassett of Chippewa Falls and Nila McDonald of Milwaukee; brother-in-law Tom (Alice) McDonald of Tilden; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Art and Bernard; her parents, one brother Leslie Bassett; one sister Margie Harp; and one grandson Michael Thomas McDonald.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 7 at Notre Dame Church, Chippews Falls. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 6 at Notre Dame Church, Chippewa Falls. There will be a Christian vigil service at 7:30 p.m. at Notre Dame Church.
