Marjorie S. Bassett Makynen
SPENCER -- Marjorie S. (Bassett) Makynen, 75, of 57 Thompson Pond Road, died Tuesday, March 12, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.
Her husband, Raymond M. Makynen, died in 1994. She leaves two sons, Michael R. Makynen of Hopkinton and Wilfred E. Makynen of Spencer; a daughter, Sharon M. Howard of Brookfield; four grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. She was born in Spencer, daughter of Wilfred J. and Albertina M. (Sharon) Bassett, and graduated from David Prouty High School.
Mrs. Makynen was a homemaker. She was also a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine teacher at Holy Rosary Church, now Our Lady of the Rosary Church, and volunteered doing church records. She and her husband were park rangers in the Vermont State Park system. She enjoyed painting, crocheting and writing short stories and poems. She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church.
The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 16, in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 6 Church St. Burial will be in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 15, in Pillsbury Funeral Home, 163 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Scleroderma Research Foundation, Pueblo Medical Commons, 2320 Bath St. 307, Santa Barbara, CA 93105.
