A native of Powellsville, N.C., he was a son of Andrew and Mrs. Roxanna Bass and the husband of Mrs. Viola W. Bass. He was a member of Third Baptist Church and was employed by Norfolk Naval Shipyard 23 years. Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Oliver, Mrs. Ruth Johnson, and Mrs. Delores Oliver, and two sons, Glover C. Bass Jr. and Melvin D. Bass, all of Portsmouth; a sister, Mrs. Laura Sessoms of Powellsville; a brother, Garfield Bass of White Plaints, N.Y., and 10 grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Powellesville Baptist Church by the Rev. C.J. Freeman. Burial will be in the family cemetery. Fisher Funeral Home has charge.
