Martha Honeman
Services were held for Mrs. Martha Honeyman at the Emerson United Methodist church, Saturday, April 7 at 2 p.m. with Rev. George Weitzel officiating and burial in the Emerson cemetery. Nelson-Boylan Funeral Chapel, Red Oak, were in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Richard Steen was organist and Mr. George Curtis and Mr. Ed Greenwood were ushers. The floral committee was Mr. and Mrs. Cecille Wax and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Honeyman. Pallbearers were grandsons Donald Gillespie, David Bass, Jim Bass, Mark Honeyman, Irving Parker, Jon Bass, Kenny Bass and Tom Honeyman and Steve Bass.
Martha Christine Honeyman, 85 Emerson died Wednesday, April 4, at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nels Petersen, she was born Aug. 14, 1898, in Lincoln, NE and was reared in Montana. She lived in Colorado before moving to Emerson in 1928. While living in Colorado, she worked in a tuberculosis hospital and after moving to Emerson, helped as a home health care aide. Her husband, Warren Honeyman, died in 1968.
She was a member of Emerson United Methodist church, United Methodist Women, Women's Relief Corp, and American Legion Auxiliary. Memorials are suggested to the church.
Surviving are two daughters, - Mary Parker and Iva Gillespie both of Emerson, two sons, George Bass of Emerson and Wayne Bass of Dexter, OR; step-son Leo Honeyman of Emerson; 16 grand children, 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Peterson of Denver, CO and Art Petersoji of Reeds Spring, MO; two sisters, Irene Benedix and Florence Davis, both of Los Angeles, CA.
Those from a distance who came for the service were: Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Bass, Dexter, OR; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Scott, and Sandy, UT; Mr. Steve Bass, Portland, OR; Connie Gallin, Masslin, OH; Mr. Art Peterson, Reeds Spring, MO and Mr. Mark Honeyman, Ames, IA.
