CANTON - Alice Storrs, 88, a life-long resident of Canton, died
Friday, Feb. 4, 2000 at the Highlands Nursing Home in LaPort
Her husband, Lamar Storrs, died in September of 1953.
She retired after 20 years from the Ben Franklin Store here, retiring
in 1974. Previous to that she was a cleaning woman in various home
In earlier life she and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm in
Canton Township.
She was a United Methodist.
She enjoyed reading and word puzzles.
Born July 30, 1911, she was a daughter of Martin and Sarah Olinger
Bassett.
Surviving are a son, Charles M. of Leesburg, Fla.; two daughter
Phyllis Beck and Shirley Rathbun, both of Canton; nine grandchildren; 14
great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; six step grandchildren; ni
step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousin
She was preceded in death by a stepmother, Daisy Bassett; a sister,
Gertrude Best; and three brothers, Kenneth, Niles and Wendell Basset
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pepper's, Springbrook
Drive, with the Rev. Norman Pierce officiating. Burial will be in the Park
Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation. The
family will provide the flowers.
