Irene Bass, 83
Irene H. Bass, 83 of Reedsburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009 at the Reedsburg Area Medical Center. She was born on April 15, 1926 in Cazenovia, the daughter of Clarence and Veronica (Leumkuehler) Keller. On Nov. 6, 1945, she was united in marriage to Charles G. Bass at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cazenovia. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg, sang in the choir and was a member of the CCW. Irene was a charter member of the Sauk County Homemakers, member of the Winfield Progressive Homemakers and a 4-H leader. Faith, family and friends formed the cornerstone of Irene's life.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Janice Bass; and a brother, Francis Keller.
She is survived by her children, Rita (Brad) Emmert of Madison, Mary (Russell) Zuehlke of Madison, Donald (Teresa) Bass of Reedsburg, Robert (Judy) Bass of Reedsburg, Betty (Jon) Bakken of Madison, Gerald (Susan) Bass of Waukesha, Mark (Theresa) Bass of Reedsburg, Diana (Jim) Frank of Madison; 25 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; sisters, Marian Weber of Irvine, Calif., Helen (Louie) Nachreiner of Plain; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Keller of Verona, Dorothy Holt of Baraboo; brother and sister-in-law: Keith and Vera Pelton of Reedsburg; many nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Irene Bass will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg with Father Thomas Monaghan officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Farber Funeral Home with a prayer service conducted at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials of remembrance may be made to Sacred Heart School.
The Farber Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
