Vivian Ilene Bassett
Vivian Ilene Bassett, 90, of McHenry died Dec. 27, 1998, in her hom
She was born Oct. 18, 1908, in Streator to Homer and Mary (Vogel) Switzer. On
Dec. 12, 1934, in Houston, she married Lisle Bassett.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of McHenry and its
United Methodist Women, Ruth Circle and Friendship Club. She also had been
church historian. She had also been a member of the Eastern Star, Kiskwaukee
Trail Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, Lac Des Colonial Dames
of the XVII Century and McHenry County Genealogical Society.
Surviving is a daughter, Ilene Bassett Wiedemann of Heidelberg, Germany; a
son, Homer Bassett of Denver; two grandchildren; and three great-
grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her husband in 1974.
The funeral service took place Jan. 2 at the Peter M. Justen Colonial Home in
McHenry with the Rev. Michael Morris of the First United Methodist Chur
officiating.
Interment was in Woodland Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Kishwaukee Trail Chapter of the Daughters of the
American Revolution.
