Bassett-Genisch
The marriage of Miss Grace Elizabeth Benisch and Mr. Harold Bassett took place last evening at eight o?clock at the home of the bride?s parents, Mr. and Mrs. John J. Genisch of North Oakdale avenue. The Reverend Benjamin R. Lautz of the St. John?s Lutheran church read the service, using the ring ceremony. The bride walked with the groom. They took their places under an arch of asparagus and white flowers.
Mrs. Oliver Bassett, a sister of the bride, and Mr. Bassett, a brother of the groom, were the attendants. Another sisters of the bride, Miss Verna Genisch carried the ring in a basket of flowers. She wore a frock of white embroidered voile. Mrs. Bassett wore her wedding gown of white messaline and lace and carried pink carnations.
The bride?s gown was of white crepe meteor with a tunic of lace. Her veil fell from a crown of tiny blossoms. The shower bouquet was the bridesroses.
Pink and white decorations were used in the dining room. The center-piece on the table was of pink and white phlox and above it was suspended a wedding bell. Miss Mary Kilgore, Miss Esther Coulson, Mrs. Orin Baker and Mrs. Cevern Johnson assisted in serving the two course wedding supper. The forty guests were relatives and close friends. Out-of-town guests were Mrs. Catherine Shank of Alamoria, California; Miss Frances Spencer and Miss Florence Spencer of Chapman, Mrs. Mary Jungel of New Cambria, and Mrs. Floyd Pratt of Kansas City. Mr. and Mrs. Bassett will be at home after August first at 249 North Penn avenue.
Since her graduation from the local High school two years ago, Mrs. Bassett has been bookkeeper for the Haggart-Gawthrop Clothing Company. Mr. Bassett is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alden Bassett of Del Norte, Colorado. He has been a resident of Salina the past six years and is an engineer at the plant of the Light, Power and Gas company.
