Service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park. He was a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Medicine. He served an internship at St. Anthony?s Hospital in Oklahoma City and a residency in internal medicine at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He was a member of the Academy of Family Medicine, Shelby Couty Medical Society and the American Medical Association. He was past president of the Big Ten Club and a member of the University Club of Memphis and St. Luke?s United Methodist Church. He leaves his wife, Hazel Bassett; two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Atchley of Huntsville, Ala., and Mrs. Elisabeth Horton of Germantown; a sister, Mrs. Marion Wootten of Las Cruces, N.M., two brothers, Robert H. Bassett of Palmetto, Fla, and Dr. William H. Bassett of Camarillo, Calif., six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
