- After the death of James, Florence married (2) Otto V. Reece, son of George Eldon and Sarah (Earnest) Reece. Otto's brother Francis, married Martha Conant, aunt of George William Conant. After the death of Otto, Florence
married (3) Cleve McWhirter. They lived in Kinmundy, Illinois. Cleve was the nephew of Maggie (McWhirter) Bassett, wife of Elmer Bassett.

Mrs. Florence Bassett McWhirter, 84, of Kinmundy, passed away
Saturday, August 13, 1893 in Doctors Nursing Home, Salem.
She was born January 28, 1899 in Tonti Twp., Marion County, Illinois,
the daughter of James T. and Mary Sullens Osborne. She was a member of the
Kinmundy Christian Church. She married James Bassett in 1918 who preceded her
in death in 1947. She married Cleve McWhirter in 1969, he survives. Also
surviving are one son, Marvin Bassett of rural Alma; one daughter, Mrs.
Richard (Ruth) Williams, Farina; one step-son, five step-daughters; one
brother, Clyde Osborne, Alma; seven grandchildren, 21 step-grandchildren, 11
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 16, 1983 at the Lint
Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Hunt officiating. Burial was in Sandy Branch
Cemetery, Foster Twp. rural Alma.
A memorial has been established for the Sandy Branch Cemetery.
