Former Canton Residents Observe 25th Wedding Anniversary
About thirty relatives, old friends and neighbors of Mr. and Mrs. Willi
Johnson, Plainfield, N. J., formerly of Canton and Ogdensburg met with them in
Watertown Park, Sunday, and helped them celebrate their twenty-fifth wedding
anniversary. A beautiful wedding anniversary cake was the centerpiece of the
attractively decorated table on which the picnic dinner was served. A purse of
silver was presented to Mr. And Mrs. Johnson, by the guests. Mrs. Johnson was
before her marriage, Miss Bernice Bassett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ruf
Bassett, of Canton, who died a number of years ago.
Present were: Mrs. Ben Johnson, mother of Mr. Johnson and only surviving
parent; Anna Bassett, Beulah Bassett, Mrs. Delia Crane, Mr. and Mrs. Chas.
Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Allen and two children, Watertown; Mr. and Mrs.
Carl Bassett and daughter, Gouverneur; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Johnson, Chaumont;
Mr. and Mrs. Myron Johnson, Philadelphia; Mrs. Grace Fox, Canton Misses Myrtle
and Carrie Griswold and Mrs. Taylor, Syracuse; Miss Lelia Watson, Plainfield,
N. J. Miss Helen Hitchcock, Mrs. Collins and two children, Hannawa Falls and
Mr. and Mrs. Johnson; their son, James, was unable to attend.
