Hamilton Bass
1933 ? 2017
Hamilton "Ham" Bass August 26, 1933 - June 19, 2017 Ham succumbed to lung cancer at home, with loving wife, Cecelia, and daughter, Shawn, at his side. Ham was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Ronald and Mercedes Bass. He grew up in San Francisco, where he met and married his wife of 59 years, Cecelia. Moving to Los Gatos in 1959, they raised their four children there: Julie (Doug) Richert of Shelton, Washington; Cheryl (Jeff) Stephens (deceased), Randy (deceased), and Shawn. Ham is also survived by two grandsons, Doug and Derek Richert, and by adult children, Denise and Richard Hiatt, from his first marriage. Ham owned and operated four gas stations, later working for Anderson Towing Service and Dick's Automotive Transport. An enthusiastic "desert rat," Ham spent many happy times exploring Death Valley with his brothers and grandsons. He was known for his love for others, generosity, dry humor, and frequent family trips, a legacy of cherished memories. Many thanks to family and friends who have shown so much kindness and to his devoted caregiver, Maria Gonzales. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 15, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Community Church of Los Gatos, 17765 Daves Avenue, Monte Sereno, 95030.
