- Mrs. Mary Bass Rites Held
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Eddie Bass of 1011 East Main Street, Honey Grove were held at 3:00 o’clock Saturday afternoon, in Cooper-Sorrells Chapel. Officiants were the Reverend Ernest Hodge and the Reverend James Duncan. Cooper-Sorrells directed interment in Oakwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Dupree, Bill Burns, Allen Winkler, Delbert Sessums, Don Parham and Tom Martin.
Mrs. Bass died at 8:30 o’clock Friday morning, January 26, 1973 in Grove Manor. She had been ill for three weeks at the time of her demise.
A native of Independence County, Arkansas, Mrs. Bass was born September 20, 1890, the daughter of Franklin P. Cole and Alice Price Cole. She married Jake A. Bass on December 12, 1914 at Honey Grove. He preceded her in death, October 9, 1970. She was a member of the Petty Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Dale Bass, Grand Prairie; Lois Bass, Alvin; E.J. Bass and Donald Bass, both of Honey Grove; two brothers, Coy Cole of Onahan and Clyde Cole of Honey Grove; twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, 3 o'clock at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral chapel here for Mrs. Mary Eddie Bass, 82, who died Friday, January 26, 1973, in a Honey Grove nursing home. She had been ill about three weeks. The Reverend Ernest Hodge of Grand Prairie and the Reverend James Duncan, pastor of the First Baptist church in Honey Grove, officiated at the services. Burial was in Oakwood. Mrs. Bass was born September 20, 1890, in Independence County, Arkansas, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Cole. She was married December 12, 1914, in Honey Grove to J. A. Bass, who preceded her in death October 9, 1970. She is survived by four sons, Dale Bass of Grand Prairie, E. J. and Donald Bass of Honey Grove, and Lois Bass of Alvin; two brothers, Coy Cole of Monahans and Clyde Cole of Honey Grove; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Bass was a member of the Baptist church at Petty. Pallbearers were James Dupree, Bill Burns, Allen Winkler, Delbert Sessums, Don Parham and Tom Martin.

Funeral services for Mrs. J. A. Bass, who died at Grove Manor Nursing Home here Friday, were held at 3 p.m. Saturday in chapel.
