Clarke Bassett
Memorial services for Clarke Bassett, 79, of 7714 E. Medlock Dr., Scottsdale, Ariz., were held Friday, Jan. 13, at Scottsdale. Burial will be in Aberdeen.
Mr. Bassett died Tuesday, Jan. 10, at a Phoenix, Ariz., hospital.
He was born in Minneapolis and was graduated from Lake Forest Academy in Illinois in 1917. He received a bachelor of science degree from Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, in 1921. He married Marjorie Milligan in Aberdeen on Sept. 20, 1923.
Mr. Bassett was president of the Aberdeen National Bank from 1937 to 1942; the Merchants National Bank and Trust Co., Fargo, 1945-1953; senior vice president and director, and chairman of trust committee, First National Bank of Minneapolis, 1954-1965.
Mr. Bassett also served as president and director of the First National Bank of Lidgerwood, N.D.; was a director of Donaldson Co., St. Paul; director of Great Northern Insurance Co., Minneapolis; past vice president and treasurer of the Unites States Chamber of Commerce; and a board member and trustee of St. Mary?s Episcopal School in Faribault, Minn.
Survivors are his wife Marjorie, of Scottsdale; one son, James Clarke Bassett, Minneapolis; and two daughters, Mrs. E.A. (Susan) Simonson, Fargo, and Mrs. Edwin L. (Harriet) Price, Riverside, Calif.
The family prefers memorials to the donor?s favorite charity.
